Lake Harris Chain of Lakes

April 24-26, 2009

by Dennis Marshall

This was our first overnight trip on the Odd Duck (or for that matter on any such small boat).  Unfortunately we didn't get to spend time with all who were in the vicinity, but did get to meet Art & Brenda aboard Rosie Pearl and finally met Phil Reed at a little place on the Dead River Friday PM.

Very light air on Friday as we worked our way to the Dead River, then good air as we left the river into Lake Eustis.  Garett, sailing the Grin, and Carol & I then found our way (with help from Phil) to a restaurant called Sinbad on the South shore of Lake Eustis.

Friendly Alligator

We had a great dinner and left just at sundown and anchored close to Rosie Pearl on the East shore just a little to the North.  Saturday produced a beautiful sail up to the Lake Eustis city docks and we walked to a little cafe in town and had the best breakfast I have had since coming to Florida four years ago.

Happy First Mate!

Trimming for light air?

Low water makes for higher bridges!
